The Appearing of Christ

The Appearing of Christ

From my journal notes; 9,29,2012

Col 3:3-4 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also
appear with Him in glory.

If Christ is apparent to others in your life, then your soul life has been to the cross and you have participated in His death and His resurrection life, to one degree or another.  Like a single seed that is planted in the ground, it is a process from planting to harvest; first the planting, then the appearing or manifestation of the blade, then the full corn in the ear....and so "the sowing of the seed" is a parable of this manifestation or appearing of Christ in the Sons of God and their new Kingdom life.

Mar 4:26-29 And He said, "So is the Kingdom of God as if a man
should cast seed into the ground, and should sleep, and rise night
and day, and the seed should spring up and grow, he knoweth not
how.  For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself: first the
blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear. But when
the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle,
because the harvest is come."

And... so important to remember is; that we are saved by faith through GRACE. “GRACE” is; The divine influence on our hearts to change the motivation of our hearts and in time, to manifest His divine nature and His righteousness in and through us”.

Only the Spirit can change our “want to”.  By the work of the Holy Spirit, you can want to be changed, but you must choose to give up your soulish life or desires of the flesh to be changed, within your heart, by the Spirit of God. You can’t change the motivations of your heart, it is His work.

We must suffer and agonize our way to a decision, if necessary and give up our soul life to Him, daily, to death, as it were, on the cross.  This death of soulish self-interest is necessary in order to enter in through the gates of this new "place" (positional) where the King will have dominion and thereby participate with Him in His rule in your heart.  Then will we experience His resurrection life and be partakers of and manifest His divine nature to the world. Thereby glorifying the Father, once more, as Jesus did.

Romans 8:14-19 (NIV) because those who are led by the Spirit of
God are sons of God. For you did not receive a spirit that makes
you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of son ship.
And by him we cry, "Abba, Father." The Spirit himself testifies
with our spirit that we are God's children. Now if we are children,
then we are heirs--heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ,
if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also
share in his glory.  I consider that our present sufferings are not
worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.
The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God
to be revealed...

1Johnn 5:14-15 (NIV) This is the confidence we have in approaching
God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.
And if we know that he hears us--whatever we ask--we know that
we have what we asked of him.

John 14:13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in My name, that will I
do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

John 14:14 If ye shall ask anything in My name, I will do it.

John 14:15 "If ye love Me, keep My commandments.

John 14:20 At that day ye shall know that I am in My Father, and
you in Me, and I in you.

John 14:21 He that hath My commandments and keepeth them,
he it is that loveth Me; and he that loveth Me shall be loved by
My Father, and I will love him and will manifest Myself to him."

John 15:4 "Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear
fruit of itself, unless it abide in the vine, no more can ye, unless
ye abide in Me.

John 15:5 "I am the vine, ye are the branches. He that abideth in
Me and I in Him, the same bringeth forth much fruit, for without
Me ye can do nothing.

John 15:6 If a man abide not in Me, he is cast forth as a branch
and is withered; and men gather them and cast them into the
fire, and they are burned.

John 15:7 If ye abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ye shall
ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

John 15:8 Herein is My Father glorified, that ye bear much
fruit; so shall ye be My disciples.

John 15:9 "As the Father hath loved Me, so have I loved you.
Continue ye in My love.

John 15:10 If ye keep My commandments, ye shall abide in My
love, even as I have kept My Father's commandments, and abide
in His love.

Flesh vs. Spirit

"The controversy; Flesh vs. Spirit"
from my journal notes; 9.15.2012; B. Keith Chadwell

1Co 15:46 ASV; “Howbeit that is not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; then that which is spiritual.”

Beginning many months ago, I started thinking and writing on a subject starting in the Old Testament which chains through to the Spiritual applications in Paul’s writings to the Galatians 4:19-31, etc... I believe the Lord brought this to my attention and prompted me to delve into it in some detail. The premise of my study and writing began with this thought; “Consider, now, the controversy between the children of the bond woman and the children of the free woman.” So I began to think and study; first about the, NOW, natural situation between the descendants of Ishmael and the descendants of Isaac. At the same time, I was, also, considering; the; “NOW” spiritual application of this allegory.

There is a natural fulfillment to Bible prophecy, followed by a spiritual fulfillment. Of course, in his letter to the Galatians; Paul was talking, more, about the Spiritual fulfillment of the allegory he discusses, in Gal. 4:19-31, of Ishmael and Isaac. In other words; Paul was pointing out the prophetic allegory or metaphor written in the Book of Genesis which was pointing to the Spiritual reality the Church would face of the controversy between the flesh and the spirit. This is the, very real, conflict that would exist and does exist, today, for all Christians between their fleshly desires (represented by Ishmael) and the desires of the Spirit or will of God (represented by Isaac).

In the allegory, as Paul called it, from Genesis; the bondwoman, Hagar, birthed Ishmael. Ishmael was Abraham’s first son. Ishmael was the product of getting ahead of God and natural man trying to help to manifest God’s promise with ways of the flesh and not waiting on the Spirit to do His work in order to bring forth God’s promise.

The other woman, Sarah, birthed Isaac, Abraham’s second son. Isaac was the child of the freewoman who was “born after the Spirit”. Isaac was the child God promised to Abraham and was a product of the work of the Spirit, when such a thing seemed impossible in the natural.

Ishmael’s descendants, in the natural, are now, generally, what we know as the Islamic peoples of the Middle East regions. True to the prophecy regarding Ishmael in Genesis 16:17-12; (below), his descendants were among those who were the enemies of the children of Israel when they crossed the Jordan to take “the promised land”. (Psalms 83:4-8). Since then, Ishmael’s descendants, in the natural, have been in bloody controversy with Jews and just about anybody else who won’t agree with them.

Genesis 16:7-12 (Literal translation version); “And the Angel of Jehovah found her by a well of water in the wilderness; by the well in the way of Shur. And He said, Hagar, Sarai's slave-girl, where did you come from? And where do you go? And she said, I am fleeing from the face of my mistress, Sarai. And the Angel of Jehovah said to her, Return to your mistress and submit yourself under her hand. And the Angel of Jehovah said to her, I will exceedingly mulply your seed, so that it shall not be numbered for multitude. And the Angel of Jehovah said to her, Behold! You are with child and shall bear a son; and you shall call his name Ishmael, because Jehovah has listened to your affliction. And he shall be a wild ass of a man, his hand against all, and the hand of everyone against him; and he shall live before all his brothers. (Emphasis is mine) The point is this; the decedents of Ishmael, in the natural have been true to the prophecy and have been, down through history, like “a wild ass of a man”, their hands against all, and the hand of everyone against them…”

And… true to the prophecy, our flesh, like “a wild ass off a man”, has been at war with our Spirit since the Spirit was first given to believers.

James 4:1 (KJV) From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members ( your flesh)?

James 4:1-10 (CEV) Why do you fight and argue with each other? Isn't it because you are full of selfish desires that fight to control your body? You want something you don't have, and you will do anything to get it. You will even kill! But you still cannot get what you want, and you won't get it by fighting and arguing. You should pray for it. Yet even when you do pray, your prayers are not answered, because you pray just for selfish reasons. You people aren't faithful to God! Don't you know that if you love the world, you are God's enemies? And if you decide to be a friend of the world, you make yourself an enemy of God. Do you doubt the Scriptures that say, "God truly cares about the Spirit he has put in us"? In fact, God treats us with even greater kindness, just as the Scriptures say, "God opposes everyone who is proud, but he is kind to everyone who is humble." Surrender to God! Resist the devil, and he will run from you. Come near to God, and he will come near to you. Clean up your lives, you sinners. Purify your hearts, you people who can't make up your mind. Be sad and sorry and weep. Stop laughing and start crying. Be gloomy instead of glad. Be humble in the Lord's presence, and he will honor you.”

Current events in the Middle East, Biblical prophecy, and Current events in the Spirit are all tied together; 1Co 15:46 ASV; “Howbeit that is not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; then that which is spiritual.”

The real considerations are those things hidden by God in this natural allegory, which Paul points out in Galatians, chapter four, that has been playing out in Natural world history, even unto this very day, with parallel fulfillment in the Spirit.

This allegory from Genesis continues, with lessons for Christians to learn, regarding the controversy between the children of the bondwoman (the flesh) and the children of the free woman (the Spirit).

It's nothing new...

“It’s nothing new…”
from my journal; 9.04.2012

Is there anything whereof it may be said, See, this is new?  It hath been already of old time, which was before us.  Ecclesiastes 1:10

From Malachi to John the Baptist, perhaps some 400 years of prophetic silence ensued, as many Jews looked to a future when the promised Messiah, would come.

Finally, the long awaited announcement came through an Angel of God to Mary.  The Son of God” was coming.   John (under a mandate) came out of the wilderness, to prepare the folks for His coming, but apparently, even John didn’t know quite what to expect. However, he finally saw what he had been told to look for and bare record that what he saw was…” the Son of God”.

But wait….Kings from heaven, won’t show up in the form of destructible human flesh!!!  The “King” they had been promised, most certainly would not have been hanging out in a poor neighborhood, in obscurity, for 30 years before he is announced.  Most certainly not!!  Furthermore, God just wouldn’t choose some hairy, homeless, hermit who eats bugs, to announce Him!!  No way!!  God would appoint the highest level of religious leadership to announce and provide witness for “The Promised Messiah”.

The religious leaders of those days apparently had developed and passed along from generation to generation a detailed eschatology and knew exactly how it would all happen….or… so they thought.

From Moses to Malachi and from Malachi to Jesus, the Jewish people believed and looked forward to the coming of a Messiah.    Why then, when He finally came, would the Jewish people, as a whole, not recognize and acknowledge him?

Because, he did not appear or manifest himself to them in the way in which the traditions of men and the religious leadership of those days had been teaching that he would.  Therefore:  He came unto his own” …”and his own received him not.

Many Jewish people in these last days (the days since Jesus first came) continue to deny that He has already come and continue to look to the future for that which is “at hand” and has been at hand for over 2000 years.  Jesus (the Christ), the Son of the living God, the promised Messiah, Emanuel (God with us), has come and his salvation is …”At Hand”.

However… Many Christians today, come in the name of Christ saying…”Jesus is the Christ”.  They too, as the Jews, believe in the Messiah and the promises of God through His “old testament” prophets. Yet, they deny that His Kingdom is come.  Still Insisting, like the Jews, that the promise of his coming in His Kingdom is still….”in the future”.

Matthew 24:4-5 And Jesus answered and said unto them, take heed that
no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ;
and shall deceive many.

I am Christ.  Don’t all true Christians say…”He is Christ?   Jesus is the Christ!!!  Some Christians, even true, well meaning, Christians, who come in the name of Christ, saying; “He is Christ”, can and do …“deceive many”.  They deceive many by repeating false or distorted teachings that have their origins in religious traditions which are laced with the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

Is there more to come in Christ in the future?  Most certainly!!   However, like the Jews of old; what are we missing in the meanwhile by overlooking the Kingdom that is……. “at hand”, the Kingdom that isChrist In Us?

The traditions of men can be powerfully deceptive… which is “nothing new”.

The Rest of God

Hebrews 4:9.-11 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.  Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

Being a Born again Christian alone, will not automatically cause entry into this “Rest” which the Bible speaks of.  No more than being a born again Christian will automatically appropriate some of the other promises of God.  Some of Gods promises to his people are “conditional”.   This is one of them.   Otherwise, God would not have said; “If”……

”…If you will harden not your heart….”

As a Christian who” labors to enter into the rest God promised, we must not only be immersed in the Spirit, but there should also be subsequent change.  The Emphasis is on CHANGE.  This change can only be wrought by the Spirit of God as we choose to humbly submit ourselves not only to be immersed into Christ but to remain immersed in Christ.

Christians can enter “His rest”… IF…we will choose to die to our old desires daily and turn to Jesus in faith, seeking his aid to help our weaknesses.  Then, we are righteous by faith as we continue to walk after the Spirit and He works in us to progressively cleanse us and change us into His image, in fact.

Entering “His rest” can only be accomplished by “His work” in us.  We can’t do it in our own strength, so we must trust in Him to do it.  We must choose to be a “BELIEVER” that He can do it without our help, “IF” we will let him.

Isaiah 28:12

“...This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing:”
