Blessed is he that commeth in the name of the Lord

“Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord

                                                                                           B. Keith Chadwell, 1.26.2014

Luke 13:34-35 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, that killeth the prophets, and stoneth them that are sent unto her! How often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her own brood under her wings, and ye would not! Behold, your house is left unto you desolate: and I say unto you, ye shall not see me, until ye shall say, blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.

When the children of Israel came out of Egyptian bondage, through the sea and into the wilderness, they came with God's promise of a land flowing with milk and honey.  It was a conditional promise which could not and would not be fully appropriated without trusting in God and following God's directions.  Self-reliance was not an option for possession of the promise.

Joshua 5:6 (GW) For 40 years the Israelites wandered through the desert until all their soldiers who left Egypt died. They died because they disobeyed the LORD. The LORD swore that he would not let them see this land flowing with milk and honey which he had sworn to give our ancestors.

The journey from Egypt to the land of promise was only a few score miles distant. That distance, by a direct route, could have been traversed fairly easily by such a company in a matter of days.  Yet, this journey took years before they were permitted to “see” it.

Then, entry into the land and possession of the land were challenges beyond just seeing. Some, even after seeing, refused to enter and died in the wilderness. Moses saw it, but because of unbelief and disobedience was forbidden to enter in and died.    Others entered the land but even after entering the land, the children of Israel have not, to this date (1/26/2014) possessed and sustained complete possession of the land that God promised.

All this is recorded in the Bible of natural Israel.  And… while historical, the Bible is also prophetic and written in a mystery form through the use of metaphors, similes and dark sayings, etc...  In this manner God designed it to provide Christian believers with instruction and admonition by revelation of the Holy Ghost.

What, then, is the prophetic message that is so reliable and that we are instructed to pay attention to as revealed by the Holy Ghost regarding “The Promised Land”…?

Our promised land, as Christians, is a spiritual parallel to that of the Children of Israel in the natural.  Our promised land, mysteriously, is within us.  It is a place from where our King is to rule.  For us, those who possess or have possessed this “land” of promise are not enemies like the Amorites or Jebusites that our fellow Jews in the natural faced.  Those who possess or have possessed our land of promise are not flesh and blood, but are principalities, powers; rulers of the darkness of this world.   Our warfare is not against natural enemies but against spiritual wickedness. We often identify these enemies and their manifestations as; pride, lust, greed, un-forgiveness and any other such unholy manifestation through our flesh.

Our “Promised land” is NOT Heaven!!  Our promised land is “within us” and we are not to look for it here or there.   Our land, like that promised to the natural children of Israel, is also a land that must be taken progressively.  It is a land occupied by the ungodly and unseen that must be taken by force under the complete direction of our King and through His strength and power, not ours.  Our land, also, is a land where Gods plan requires that He, alone, is to have complete dominion.    (Kings-Dominion)

Matthew 11:12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.

The Children of Israel waxed and waned in their quest to possess their promised land.  When they relied on God alone they were successful.  When they relied on men and their own understanding they fell back and were defeated by those they fought to depose.  Sadly, because of a lack of reliance on God rather than man, by the time Jesus was revealed as the promised Messiah, the Jewish nation had become a subject nation.

Because, overall, our Jewish fellows, in the natural, relied more on the doctrines of men than the word of God; when Jesus was revealed to them, He found them as He described them in Matthew 9:36…

“But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they
fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.”

A far cry from what God had offered to them.

“…Behold, your house is left unto you desolate: and I say unto you, ye shall not see me, until ye shall say, blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.”

2Pe 1:19 (NIV)  We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.

But....nope, like the Children of Israel who came out of Egypt, we Christians, for the most part, grumbled and complained, wanted meat instead of "manna", loved to do it our way, loved the recognition of men, set up our idols, hung on to our old liturgies, refused to hear directly from God and looked to and relied on men who said they did.  We, generally, sought to satisfy our fleshly lusts and relied, pretty much, on what we could see, touch, smell, taste or hear with our soulish senses.

Without a vision of God’s “end” (goal or point aimed at) we, generally, remained; babes on milk, divided and in derision.  Few inchurch” leadership were ever weaned from the breast. The meat desired by these spiritual babes who thought they were mature spiritual leaders choked them  and they puked all over the tables and there was no place clean for anyone else to eat (see Is 28:, the NIV version is especially descriptive here).

We, generally, have fouled up the grace-faith stuff and did it our own way, rule after rule after rule, grit our teeth, gut it out and fail, then try again righteousness. We clung to liturgy and leavened doctrines with a death grip.

Generally, we have dressed, talked, walked, raised families, entertained ourselves, done business and recreated, just like all the other “Babylonians” for over 2,000 years. We followed false teachers, let ourselves get divided and remain divided and we became, for the most part, as; "the lost sheep of the house of Israel" were when Jesus was revealed to Israel by John.

Generally, we have ran a parallel course to our Natural Jewish fellows in their wilderness journey and on into...trying to possess thepromised land” and keep it.  Howbeit, theirs was a natural course, ours is a spiritual course.

As Christians, our parallel course has included the comparable ups and downs our fellow Jews, in the natural, experienced while trying to see, enter and finally; fully possess and remain in possession of our "promised land".

By 30 AD the pure Word of God had been twisted, added to and been unbelievably leavened by the leadership of the Jewish people. The Pharisees and the Sadducees were divided, each group with their own man made doctrines.    The blind, then, were leading the blind.  Therefore, after being hid out among them for 30 years… as it were, the majority of the Jewish people couldn't or wouldn't recognize Jesus as "the promised Messiah" when He was revealed to them by John.

"How sad", we say; "They didn't know or recognize their promised Messiah".

Yet, have we Christians done any better??

More often than not, because of the leavened doctrines on men, we like our natural Jewish fellows, have rejected many of Gods messengers and much of His truth.   Therefore we find ourselves; Children of God, living as subjects in a foreign culture.  We are not in “one accord” we are divided and have allowed ourselves to remain divided.   And, just as Ezekiel’s dry bones; we are far short of the unity of the fully functioning “body of Christ” and “the high calling of God, in Christ Jesus”.

“…Behold, your house is left unto you desolate: and I say unto you, ye shall not see me, until ye shall say, blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.”

Yet, God’s hand is stretched out still.  He continues to offer His Kingdom, His Dominion within us.  His Kingdom is still “at hand...”

Our “do it yourself” program to overcome those enemies who possess our promised land will not work, now, for Christians, any more than it did for our Jewish fellows in the natural.  We must give Christ "His dominion in us" and choose to allow Him to do His work within our hearts.  It is His work and His work alone.  This is the way we enter into “His Rest”.   We rest, He does the work required. This is the door to entry into His complete dominion within us.  This is “His REST”.

Heb 4:4-6 For He spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, “And God did rest the seventh day from all his works. And in this place again, if they shall enter into my rest. Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief: “

Yes, it is written; “Some must enter in…”  These will be led by God, Sons of God and are described by the prophets of old.  These are to be a mighty army of God who will be "Servants and Handmaidens of God" who have chosen to submit their fleshly lusts to the work of the cross.   These, by the work of the Holy Spirit in them, will be dead to self-interests of the flesh and alive only unto Him.

These, like Jesus, will be willing to allow God to work in them to both will and do, only, His good pleasure.  And… will learn obedience, as Jesus did, through the things they suffer;

Heb 5:7-8  During the days of Jesus' life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with fervent cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission. Son though he was, he learned obedience from what he suffered

These will be fully mature and manifest Sons of God, who; when their obedience is
fulfilled…”will be ready to punish every act of disobedience…” (2nd Corinthians 10:6)

These, who when He appears or is manifest fully in them, will be like Him (Jesus the Christ). When these "Sons of God" are manifest, or Christ is fully manifest in them, these will glorify God again in the earth, as Jesus did. These will be wholly in one accord, united and committed to Jesus as were David's mighty men of valor. Through this company, God will do as Enoch (see the Book of Jude) and others have prophesied.

Then shall the powers of heaven and of earth be shaken before His mighty Army;
“a great people and a strong”.

Joel 2:1-2  Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand; A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations.

Joel 3:16-17  The LORD also shall roar out of Zion, and utter His voice from Jerusalem, and the  heavens and the earth shall shake; but the LORD will be the hope of His people, and the strength of the children of Israel. "So shall ye know that I am the LORD your God dwelling in Zion, My holy mountain. Then shall Jerusalem be holy, and there shall no strangers pass through her any more.

John 17:10 and all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in  them.

2Th 1:10 when he shall come to be glorified in his saints and to be admired in all them   that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.

Some must enter in…”  When?  How will this happen?  Hold steady, do not force fit what we think we know. For we still only know in part. Rest in Him, He must do this work, we must totally surrender, NO MORE STRIVING. Enter His REST, for without Him, we can accomplish nothing.

Romans 8:13-19 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye, through the Spirit, do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. or as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the
sons of God.

Jesus has already told us, not to look for His “Kingdomhere or there. It is within us, and it is “at hand”.  It is and has been “at hand” since Pentecost, ready to move and be manifest with all of the power and presence of His divine nature from believer’s hearts that are cleansed and filled to overflowing with HIM.

Luke 12:32 Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

Then, from our hearts, His life and nature and works are to be manifest to neighborhoods and nations, filling the earth with His glory and the knowledge of the glory of the Lord.   His Kingdom (His dominion) is to come in earth as it is in heaven through those led by God, those only doing His will in His strength.

It is His work, we are NOTHING without Him.  "Jesus is Lord". “The Kingdom or…Kings-dominion or… where the King has dominion is at hand”!!

... blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.
